What is an Oceanview Balcony on Utopia of the Seas?
An Oceanview Balcony on Utopia of the Seas is a stateroom with a private balcony that allows you to enjoy the fresh sea air and partial to full views of the ocean, depending on the cabin’s location. These cabins offer a comfortable space to relax, featuring a bed, sitting area, private bathroom, and modern amenities like USB ports and electrical outlets.

Roomy and Modern

Cabin 9644 on Utopia of the Seas met and exceed our expectations in many ways. From the moment we walked in, it was clear this room was designed with comfort in mind. Everything felt modern, clean, and thoughtfully arranged. There was plenty of space to move around, and we loved the ample storage.

The bed was incredibly comfortable, and for the first time in ages, we didn’t need to request a mattress topper. After long, busy days exploring the ship, sinking into this bed felt like a treat.

Another feature? There are more than enough outlets and USB ports. This cabin had plenty of options for charging and plugging things in.

  • By the vanity: Three US electrical ports, two European electrical ports, one USB-A port, and one USB-C port.
  • By each bedside: One USB-C port and one US electrical outlet.

With all these options, there was no scrambling for outlets or fighting over chargers, especially since multi-outlet ports are no longer allowed on board Royal Caribbean ships. One less thing you don’t have to pack. You can bring a multi USB outlet, if you think you need it.

A Balcony You’ll Want to Spend All Day On

The balcony was, without a doubt, the highlight of the room. It’s one of the largest we’ve ever had, with enough space for reclining chairs, footstools, and a small table. Whether it was sipping coffee in the morning or enjoying the sunset in the evening, this balcony quickly became our favorite spot.

If you look at the deck plan, you’ll notice that this cabin, along with its neighbor 9646 (the cabin our family stayed in), has an extended design. These balconies are larger than most in the same category, which made this cabin feel like a lucky find. Thanks to our cruise agent for recommending it!

Bathroom: Compact but Functional

The bathroom was the only area that felt a little tight. It was functional and clean, but if you like extra elbow room, this might not be your favorite part of the cabin. It had all the essentials and worked well for us during our trip.

I did love the blue and white color scheme inside the bathroom. Including the flowery backsplash behind the sink.

Great Midship Location

Cabin 9644’s location was ideal. Situated midship on the starboard side, it offered easy access to the elevators, which took us directly up to the kids’ club or down to the main dining rooms. What we loved most was how convenient it was to get around the ship—close enough to everything without being in the middle of noisy foot traffic.

Towel Animals Made Our Nights

On Nights 2 and 3, we were greeted by towel animals! It had been a while since we’d seen these little surprises on a cruise, and we were thrilled to see that they aren’t extinct on Utopia of the Seas. They added a fun, nostalgic touch to the end of our day and truly made us smile.

Card Already Inserted for Electricity

In Cabin 9644, there’s a key card slot near the entrance to activate the room’s electricity. On many cruise ships, you need to insert your own key card (or another card) to power the lights and outlets. However, on Utopia of the Seas, Royal Caribbean has already placed a card in the slot for you. This small but thoughtful touch means you don’t have to worry about using your own card or accidentally leaving it behind when you head out.

Is booking a balcony cabin on this Oasis Class ship worth it?
Probably not on a 3-4 night cruise on one of the biggest cruise ships in the world. There is so much to explore and experience on this ship and at ports, that the time you spend in your cabin is minimal. But, if having a balcony is important to you, then go for it.
