Royal Caribbean Adds San Diego as a New Homeport

Royal Caribbean is expanding its West Coast presence by adding San Diego as a new homeport, a first for the cruise line. Starting in October 2026, Serenade of the Seas will sail from the city, offering three-, four-, and seven-night cruises to Mexico.
The ship’s itineraries will include Cabo San Lucas, Ensenada, and La Paz, marking the first time Royal Caribbean has featured La Paz on its route. The move gives travelers another departure option in Southern California and is expected to boost San Diego’s growing cruise business.
San Diego’s cruise terminal is conveniently located just a few miles from the airport, making embarkation easier for passengers. The added cruise traffic is also expected to benefit local businesses, including Seaport Village shops and Old Town tours.
Along with San Diego, Royal Caribbean is increasing its West Coast sailings from Los Angeles for the 2026-2027 season. Quantum of the Seas and Ovation of the Seas will offer voyages with overnight stays in Cabo San Lucas, while Navigator of the Seas and Voyager of the Seas will feature longer Mexican Riviera itineraries.
Bookings for these new sailings open to the general public on February 13, 2025, with early access for Crown & Anchor Society members.
