Disney Reveals Plans for Smaller, More Intimate Cruise Ships
Disney Cruise Line has unveiled plans for three new ships that will bring a smaller, more intimate cruising experience to its fleet. While Disney had previously announced plans for these vessels last year, this new update sheds light on their smaller design and focus on personalization.
These ships, set to debut in 2029, 2030, and 2031, mark a shift from the larger Triton-class vessels like the Disney Wish and Disney Treasure, which accommodate around 4,000 passengers. The new ships will carry approximately 3,000 passengers, providing a more personalized experience while maintaining Disney’s hallmark features.
The new ships will feature reduced passenger capacity, creating a less crowded atmosphere while maintaining Disney’s signature entertainment, dining, and service. Although specific details remain under wraps, Disney has hinted at unique onboard features designed to cater to families and eco-conscious travelers, incorporating the latest sustainable maritime technology.
This move aligns with the growing demand for boutique cruising, where smaller ships are preferred for their ability to visit unique ports and offer tailored experiences. Disney Cruise Line President Sharon Siskie emphasized that the new ships will deliver everything guests love about Disney cruises in a more intimate setting, stating, “This new class of ships will allow us to deliver Disney magic in a way that feels more exclusive and tailored for our guests.”
Construction is expected to begin after the completion of the fourth Triton-class ship, with more updates on these vessels likely to be announced in the coming months.
